My laptop (which insurance has expired) keeps overheating when watching video's or listening to music for more than about half an hour.
For some odd reason.. it never does it when it ripping dvd's or doing video capture/conversion.
the Fan does kick in after it has rebooted itself but not when it is heating up (most of the time)
Does anybody have an idea why this is or what is causing it??

Probably a clogged fan intake, try cleaning it out, laptops fans get very clogged up especially if left on floor or bed when being used.

I'll try cleaning out the aie intakes and see if it makes any difference...
Also.. after trawiling through pages on the internet... a few people have suffered these problems with the exact laptop and they say it was caused by a buggy bios...
Does anyone know how to update the BIOS on acer laptops

All done....fan seems to be working how it should
air intakes cleaned out and Bios Flashed Updated..:)
If it starts overheating again and what you just doesn't work, then it might be a good idea to get a laptop cooler, I had one for a bit and it stopped it overheating straight away :)
