Bought one of these the other day to quiten down things. I checked into the Bios to check Temps and noticed that the Fan is running at 2800/2900RPM instead of the quoted 2400RPM......Any one tell why this might be? And if there's a way of slowing things up as I haven't had as much noise drop as expected.

errmmm... If its an asus mobo you enable QFAN .. it will lower the fan speeds accordingly - which will lower the noise :D

I know Asus mobo's do it, not to sure about any other makes

If the power connector is a 4 pin, it has the PWM feature. I used speedfan on my server (Celeron D 2.8, 775) to knock the stock fan down to 60% until I (today) got my Silverstone NT01.

If it's a 3 pin, then Big B's suggestion is a must try.

It's the 3 pin connector. I've looked in my Bios and can't find a toggle for Qfan, I've read the motherboards handbook that makes no referance to Qfan. Motherboard is a P4S5A have I missed something?

you could always get a fan controller that goes in a optical drive bay, that will allow you to control the fan speed at the level that you want it at.
Or if the sound is annoying u, just sit further away from ur comp
