Hello

We have a Novatech notebook NNB-223 Maverick XP 2400 512MB 40GBwith DVD burner.

After about 10 months the battery stopped running the computer by itself although the "charging" light still flashed as though it were charging.

After borrowing my friends identical (except for memory size) notebook and switching various power supplies, leads & battery combinations it appeared that it was my battery that was faulty. It 'charged up' on both computers but wouldn't put any power out to the computer to run it although it runs fine on the mains adaptor.

I tried contacting CS & they said that the battery (NTA-2197) is no longer available. They also told me to contact Goldpeak who are the battery manufacturer. They told me they made it under a contract for a time with another customers mouldings but not who for.

Is there any way to find out who made the laptop and if I can get a replacement battery for it.

As a final note, as the battery was out of its 6 months warranty, I took the battery apart and measured the cell voltages before and after charging it up.
The cells all read fine once the battery was charged so it seems like it is a problem with the circuitry in the battery itself. Is there any way to get the battery reset or repaired or does anyone know how to do suchlike?

Thanks.
Brian.

Your laptop is probally made my MiTac/Uniwill

You could look on eBay for a replacement battery.

I dont know the model number, but once you have that you can look for one. e.g Mitac 8460 Battery and that would do.

Ive done some more searching and according to a file on this very website, its made by Micropac and it's a 660BB !

The file is a list of the NNB??? numbers and the makes of the computers and can be found here; http://forum.novatech.co.uk/files/laptopmakes.htm

It still doesn't help me too much though. It helps my wife even less as its her computer we're talking about. :?
