Hello. First all the details:
Sales Order Number: 3876647
Stock code: Laptop= NNB 428H. Speakers= CRE IN5800

I recently purchased an Orion Duo 7200. I also bought Creative Inspire P5800 5.1 Speakers OEM to accompany the laptop. However, when trying to connect the laptop to the speakers, i found major difficulties in doing so. Basically, i could connect the speaker system altogether without any real difficulty. But, I could not connect the speakers to the laptop because i could not find the corresponding ports (on the laptop) that could connect with the wires given. I could not therefore follow the illustrated examples shown in the connection diagram given with the speakers.

Please could someone help me/advise me on what i should do to connect the laptop to the speakers.

Thanks for listening out. :)

Can you tell me what cables that you do have?

there should be a green port on the right side of the notebook. if you plug the green cable into this port, do the speakers make sound?

also remeber that the wired remote also has a standby switch on. so make sure that they are actually turned on.

the laptop supports SPDIF output. so you need to make sure that the speakers support this method of 5.1 input.

I bought the same speakers as you recently and had no snags connecting them to my desktop. However as they are quite an old model of speaker they have the three cable setup, ie front, rear and centre/sub. Unless there is a cable that will plug unto your SPDIF socket and splits into three outlets then I'm not sure how you will get a full 5.1 setup. Goodluck

Hi,
First of all an apology for the lateness of reply, i have been very, very, very busy.
Can you tell me what cables that you do have?
I have the original cables given with the speaker set, "Triple Stereo Line In Audio Cable." Because there is only one speaker port on the laptop, i can only use one of the leads at a time. When this happens the speaker (that is connected to the subwoofer, that is then connected to the laptop) works but the others don't (eg rear speaker lead connected to laptop= only rear speaker works).

All the speakers work in their groups, i know this because i have tested all the speakers by connecting one of the 3 leads possible (after connection of the other ends into the sub by all the leads) into the laptop. So there is nothing wrong with the individual speakers.

Having looked at the diagram given with the speakers, i bought a, "stereo-to-stereo,” cable. Connecting this to the, “Aux,” port has effectively made the system a 2.1 one with the front 2 speakers and subwoofer working.

Following (limited) research online I am thinking about getting an external USB soundcard to connect the speakers to (and thus to the laptop). Does anyone have any suggestions/warnings about doing this?

Thanks to everyone who has replied. It is very appreciated. :)
