Right where are the experts.
Look at these screenshots, something just doesnt look right, even the memory bandwith doesnt look right.
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/937/4200ghzi7htenabled.jpg
Look at the L3 Cache ????? its ment to be 4.0ns but its huge ???
also the bandwith read write and copy arent as high as there ment to be.
here is another image of me upping the bclk and lowering the muli to get more speed for bandwith but that isnt working either...

could do with some help here cause i have been trying everything.
spec:
I7 920 @4.2
20x200
Biostar Tpower x58
Ocz 3x2 Blades @7.7.7.24 also tryed 8.8.8.24 and 9.9.9.24 makes no diffrence.

Hi there
Tried any different BIOS versions m8?
Can you get the RAM to say 2000MHz at 9-9-9-28 with that mainboard?

Ok here is a image i found of what its ment to look like.
also this guy is running slower and is also running slower memory speeds.
i have no idea what is going on here arghhh....

I can get it close on the 2nd screenshot but when i select 2000mhz @ 20x200 it boots up the system at 1600mhz LOL
we definatly need bios updates but at the mo biostar seem to be lacking the knowhow to get there out fast.
still i dont think this solves my L3 or memory situation.

Hi there
You need to do trial and error process m8. Change run BIOS option at a time, run benchmark and repeat etc. etc.
Doing this you will figure out what every setting does and with time you should extract the most from the setup. :)

OK there is definatly something wrong with my system.
at default speeds, everything default in the bios to do with overclocking ect..
the L3 cache is repoting 50ns
this cant be right....
this guy that sold me this motherboard, i think he has pulled a fast one on me. cause there something just aint right about the benchmarks im getting with it,
im looking at other peoples benchmarks at the same speeds or less than me and they are getting higher results than me.
kinda defeats the purpose of me trying to clock this beat.
and every forum i post on people either dont reply or dont want to help me lol though there are people like you that are trying hehe.

He's on a different CPU...
Look at the stepping. It's possible they changed those latencies to get the better clocks of the D0.
Compare to other D0s first.

Nah mate i dont think thats the reason.
cause my D0 use to produce the Low L3 cache latency but now for some reason it doesnt.
could it be caused by a bios ? i wonder if there is anything better than the latest official release like a beta thats newer for my board hmmm

I can't but feel that L3 cache latencies are beyond the expertise of just about everyone you will find on these or any similar forum, no offense guys, sure you will get guesses but if i were you i would try contacting intel about it.

Very true, and we are just guessing if you look at the responses they are pretty generic. And mine was the most obvious choice other than BIOS revision. Those 2 cover it.
You can roll back BIOSes too, so you can go backwards and see what it was on those too, but I think you are still better getting measurements from other D0s too though.

I think i have fixed it now guys, Dont ask me how i fixed it cause i have no freaking idea i just changed stuff LOL in the bios...

Was just going to post up my C0 results as a comparison, glad you got it sorted no matter what you did, obviously "stuff" helped lol

Ok i have figured out what was causeing my HUGE l3 cache latency :)
these are the 2 settings i had disabled in the CPU settings of the bios
Hardware Prefetcher
&
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetcher
i was told you had to disable though settings when overclocking, but when i enable them i get perfect L3 cache performance.
I wonder what the reason was for the guy telling me that those settings should be disabled.
either way, im glad its sorted LOL
one more question ? what is your memory ucore set to when at 4.2,
you have
4.2
QPI 3600
is your uncore 3200 ? or 3600 ? mine is set to automaticly at 3200 is that correct ?
also your memory whats it set to in your bios, im talking about the advanced settings aswell , mine are set to 7.7.7.22.6.12.6.6.72, is that correct or should i change em ?

my uncore is 3200 it should be double the ddr rate so yours is spot on fella, your ram timings are correct as well nowt to tinker with there :) sit back and enjoy

heh :D
thanks, and btw your tests some of em you beat me ? and some of em i beat you LOL
why arent they the same hehe.... kinda hard for everyone to have the same though :D
as long as i know what im getting is normal for the overclock i have then im happy :D

dunno about the test tbh, rest assured we beat most ppl on here :)
that'll do for me
p.s as a fellow Everest user have a peek in the benchmarking thread, I've posted my results and would like to see yours ( ooer )

OK going to post those now for ya ;)
managed to sqeeze some more speed from my memory.
dam biostar board we need a bios that lets us use the 2000mhz memory dividor cause my memory is rated for 2000mhz......
i got a few more tweaks to do though hehe :D

well given that my ram is rated at 1333 9.9.9.24 I'm more than happy with what I've got out of it

Nice one!! After checking, I was having the same problem as you, so I'll try that. I didn't even know that and I've had this board pretty much since release!!
Edit: just tried it and my latency went down on the L3 cache, the memory read and write went up but the L3 read and write decreased.

Strange..
all my scores went up LOL and my L3 latency went from 20s to 3.0s
You should check out win 7, those give me even better results than vista x64s
infact far better imho lol

It could just be my timings, they're much looser than yours atm. My friend might be getting an i7 soon, and I'm building it. I want to see if his does better than mine or not.
