They still have a cage that they lay eggs in, but everyday they get to roam around the garden for a few hours.

When they are allowed out, they are watched making sure nothing happens to them.

I had a bad experience with that avian variety; I did something to aggravate some chickens and they came after me. Being not much older than 8 at the time, I turned into a real 'chicken' (no pun intended :D)

If they peck, they aren't too pleasant, so you must wear gloves when handling them.
