is there a way of changing the way MSN brings up hotmail from the ol' little green chess piece icon?

Im going to go for Firefox only for web browsing, when I set up or service friends and family's PCs.

I know two friends who just got online this week (one of them is my housemate so could spread nasties around of the machines in our house) and got a ton of spyware (mostly in form of bogus security software) which deliberately targets naive PC newcomers. :(

I worked hard to put on all windows updates and free avg, spybot search and destroy, and still they mess it all up :(

In XP if you goto control panel, add/remove programs add/remove windows components, and untick internet explorer, the blue E will go from Start menu, but MSN still launches IE when you use Hotmail.

Wonder how much spyware related calls N's support team get these days.

someone once told me how to do this, but its been a while...

No there isn't, Microsoft made MSN only look for Internet Explorer, your best bet is to just have a short cut on your desktop that will open your hotmail or atleast http://www.hotmail.com, better yet just have hotmail as your homepage.

In firefox you can have multiple home pages thanks to tabulation :)

Go to tools > options > main and set home page as:

page1 | page 2 | page 3 etc
