Hi

I've just overclocked my CPU and im getting an average of 85 after 20 mins of Prime95. I'm not sure if it's safe to run it at these temps, but i think i can lower the voltage a bit. I'm having an FSB of 190 with a multiplier of 19x giving me a 3.6 ghz. I'm running an i7 D0 stepping with ASUS P6T deluxe v2 and a Titan Fenrir air cooler. volt currently is 1.2880.

Thanks

Those temps are high for that cooler and voltage i would say. 85 is max u wanna be running.

From what Callidus taught me, that should be completely fine for an i7. Bit warm imo though considering your only running 3.6Ghz - reseating the hsf might be an idea with some artic silver thermal paste.

Mx-2 > as5.

update..

I've changed my CPU and QPI voltage to 1.268. Is this enough for a 3.6 ghz? Yes im already using arctic silver 5 but it seems I didn't put enough paste. I will reapply later. But for now, for how long should i run Prime95 for a stable comp?

Thanks.

8 hours and less is more when it comes to thermal paste.

Which cores should I be looking at? I'm using Core temp, and I've got core #2 and 3 at 77 and core #0 and 1 at 82..

Thanks

Well prolly best you take the hottest core. These run hot but most i see manage 4Ghz on these coolers fine. What speed is the fan running and how good is your air flow in ur case?

my case is centurion 590 with 5 fans 3 exhaust and 2 intake. And my fan is running at 2300rpm and quite noisy :(

you wanna change that config mate.....;)

you want 3x intake & 2x exhaust, if you have less intake than out you'll create a ''negative pressure'' within the case which will lead to air being pulled in through every nook & cranny in the case...

if you have more intake than out, this creates a ''positive pressure'' & will not allow air in anywhere except the fan vents... this helps greatly in keeping dust off the mobo & surrounding H/W...

Just weird there alittle on the high side. How long ago did you set this up? AS5 takes alittle while to burn in and you will see temps drop a few degrees. This one of the reasons MX-2 is better!

Thanks for responding I'll try change the setup later haha.

As for the AS5, that was two days ago. Some people said I have to wait for 5 to 6 days to see a major difference while others just spotted as soon as they applied it. When i had the Fenrir stock grease the temp was around 40 idle but decreased to 37 when I used the AS5. But I dont think that's a "major" decrease in temp.

That is true if you have dust filters! i want dust filters! :(
