I bought the Nitro 770 back in Nov/Dec 2005 and one of the things that drew me to it was the MXM graphics and its ability to be upgraded. In the next 6 months I'll be looking to upgrade the MXM chip if viable from the default Geforce 6600 Go to what may be around at the time. Trouble is I haven't found anywhere that sells the modules. Will our favourite Novatech be stocking these items in the future for sale or just upgrades? Any other pointers on retailers of the modules? I think I have the "Type II" slot but have not had this confirmed.
Cheers for any feedback

Unfortunately from what I’ve been told by other MXM Notepad owners & Manufactures is that you can’t really upgrade the graphic card yourself it would have to be returned to the manufacturer for upgrading (if they support upgrading at all)
I haven’t heard of anywhere that does graphic card upgrading for the nitro series (Uniwill 259EN3 as it’s more commonly known)
The likely problems involved in upgrading the graphic card yourself are:
1)It’s next to impossible to acquire a MXM graphic card they only seem to be sold to the manufactures not the consumers
2)The heatsink on the notepad will most likely not be able to cope with the extra thermal load of a higher performing graphic card (& I haven’t seen any upgrades for notepad heatsinks (yet…)
3)A number (if not all) of MXM graphic card BIOS’s aren’t on the graphic card they are installed onto the motherboard itself (not really sure about the Nitro series though) so theirs the possibility of having to find & replace the chip on the motherboard (God knows what that would do to the warrantee if it's in a hard to get to place)
4)& theirs a good chance that the motherboard & battery wouldn’t take the extra load on electrical current ether.
I’m really hoping that all of that doesn’t apply to the nitro 770 having brought one 10 months ago, where the sales assistant assured me that the graphics could easily upgraded, though all that I’ve learnt so far tells me otherwise & I’m still waiting/hoping to be told otherwise?.
Sorry if this isn’t the kind of news you or anyone else wanted to hear.

Cheers for the info, and I don't see you as the bringer of doom!
Since posting this query I have have come across a site that sells a selection of MXM cards. As yet I haven't contacted them but will be doing so mid next year to see what they can offer in the way of hardware and online assistance. They offer a moneyback guarantee (minus shipping costs) if all problems can't be resolved. I'm not too worried at the moment as I can still play BF2, Q4 etc. Lets see what problems Crysis and BF2142 throw up.

Cheers once again,
