Can anyone tell me if all AMD Athlon processors have the same pin configuration?
I need to buy one to rebuild a pc but I'm a bit clueless as to which one is compatible with my motherboard. I know that originally it had an AMD Athlon bit that's as much as I know.
Any help appreciated.

Not all AMD CPU's have the same pins.
for example:
My CPU is SOCKET 939
SOCKET 939 CPUS's will only be compatible with SOCKET 939 Motherboard's.
If you find out the name/model of your motherboard, and paste it in this thread, im sure either myself or someone will tell you what CPU to get

download a utility called "cpu-z", run it, and it tells you what pin your processor is :P

It would have to be psyhcic I'm afraid... the computer is in bits!
I just found out that the motherboard was short-circuited some time back too so it looks like I need a new one of those anyway :(
Thanks for the help. :)

I'm at a bit of a loss and not sure what's best to get?
I only really use the computer for the internet and storing photo's and music. I'm not into games or anything so I'm thinking that the cheapest bundle will do http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage?MBB-S7262U ..... Will I be able to upgrade it easily enough if I want to though? Is any hard drive going to be compatible with it?
Sorry for all the dumb questions, but you know more than me!

Thanks, looks like I'll be "treating" myself then!
What about the hard drive? Can I put anything into it?

Personally I wouldnt buy a bundle, not for any reason other than I prefer to decide exactly what I get.
Although I have always used Abit mobos since the KT7a-raid and they have been fine they seem to have lost a little ground to others like Asus so maybe they would be worth a go if u can get one in a bundle.
kt7a-raid wow, used to own one of those, and its brother the kr7a - thats going back a bit :)
