If you receive the below error when installing device drivers follow the below information to fix the problem.

Access is denied.
The data is invalid.

Microsoft's fix to the problem can be found by clicking the below link. Their fix mentions a Leadtek (winfast) card but the the fix can be used for many different bits of hardware.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;810509 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810509)

If you are unsure what Microsoft mean when they say,
use the following command to run the Pnpreg tool from a command prompt Follow the below steps.

First download the PNPReg tool by clicking the below link.

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... pnpreg.exe (http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/f/4/2f48baa1-801c-431a-b152-e0bfe766bf74/pnpreg.exe)

If you have not used DOS before save the file to your C drive, if you have used DOS save it to where ever is easiest for you.

Now click start and then run. In the run box type command and press enter. This will bring up a DOS box. Now type the following pressing enter after each line. Only type the bold text..

CD\ (this will take you to the root of the C:, if you have saved the file to a different location browse to here)

Pnpreg –L (this will run the downloaded file)

Exit (this will exit the command prompt and take you back to windows)

Once this is done reboot the PC and try reinstalling the hardware again. If you have problems after running the above patch check for windows and driver updates. Windows updates can be downloaded from http://www.windowsupdate.com and driver updates can be downloaded from the hardware manufacturer.
