Hey Guys and Gals new to the forum and i wish under different circumstances for me but im hoping one of you may be able to help me :hail:....
I have quite a few of the U50SI1's where i work (100+) now they obviously get damaged from time to time, but ive had a problem thats had me a little stumped.
When we first got the laptops they where all ghosted with identicall images and policies, now one policy as to lock DOS and boot up settings by default so no one could get into them, ive had one today that obvious hasnt had the policy enforced and has been altered to something i am not aware of, so i now have a very expensive paper wait with no password.
Is there anyway of overridding this protection it doesnt matter if dta is lost as a new image can quickly solve that i just need to be able to get this password disabled. :D
Sorry for the essay!.

A program Called UBCD for windows has a password tool on it. from here you can add an administrative account to override the other and correct its settings.

please note that i cannot gaurentee the use of this software and is a tool that i use for my own personal experience. you may wish to use this solution but entirely at your own risk. Novatech cannot accept responsability for any data loss or additional costs involved using 3rd party software.
slightly lost... you referring to the bios password or something windows related.
I would have thought if you have a ghost image then any windows lockdowns are irrelevant
so i presume your talking Bios.
Bioses do have back doors - I think maybe using the live chat feature on the main site will be best for you with it being a Nova product.

for this unit there is one of 2 solutions in this instance, but first can it boot past the password at all?
if not the only solution is a mainboard change.
if it can boot then you could flash the bios and destroy all CMOS /DMI checksum data.

No unfrotunately it cannot :(.. and ive just been told the same by live chat, well live and learn i suppose, we'll find the cost of a new mainboard or it will be just used as spares on the ever growing pile :).
Thanks for your help guys.

*UPDATE* >>>>>>>>>>>>> SUCCESS!!
After accepting defeat and grabbing another novatech with a smashed screen to switch screens and re-ghost, going through the process of strip down noticed what i found to be a CMOS battery, so on pulling that out and reseting the computer i now have a working novatech again to go back in the trolley. (Y) :D
Happy Days!!

I was going to suggest the bios reset too, of course on a laptop getting to the battery can sometimes be difficult.
