Seem to have a problem with CD / DVD Drives. They were OK, but something has changed, though not sure when.

The drives in question are :

Lite-on LTR-48327S
JLMS XJ-HD166S

In device manager, the following error message is posted "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I do not seem to be able to locate drivers for these devices on the internet, anyone any idea where I can download them from, or any other advise.

Many thanks.

If your pc came from a manufacturer and wasn't built yourself, you might be able to get the drivers from their website :).

I've never had to load a device driver for an optical drive, they are generic and built in to Windows. If there has been driver corruption then update from your Windows disk.

Do they appear in your bios?

Dump em and get a couple of £16 Samsungs, Liteon are not reliable, I have 3 that are waiting for the bin because they won't open the dam door, and they won't recognise DL media either, you'll waste £32 of time trying to sort them out tbh.

I've got a Liteon in my main pc which I've had for 4 years - never let me down yet :D! Maybe they just don't make parts like they used to... sigh the good ol days .

I wouldn't buy new ones yet mate.

Try going into device manager, and right click on one of the drives, and uninstall.

Then restart your pc, when you restart, windows should automatically install it's own generic dvd driver.

Try that first before buying new ones.
