Thanks to all again, who assisted with my Motherboard problems recently. The 3rd MB (which I collected presonally) worked perfectly! :D

[And despite the problems - thanks to NVTK staff who were excellent - even when I was doubting my sanity! :D ]

New problem: Norton don't like the new MB  , won't accept phone calls  , emails  , etc.. I have to write to them!  Well, with only one month to go on the annual subscription, I can't be bothered.

Can anyone please recommend a replacement for either Norton Anti-Virus or Norton Internet Security? Budget £40 max, but, but, but, ... it has to be a product that can be copied on to 3 PCs - all 3 are connected independently though the family router. You can do 3 with Norton, but e.g. Kapersky seem to limit this to 2.

Thanks in advance

i would stay well away form norton. there is loads of freeware software available thats 10 times better than norton.

at home i use zonealarm firewall and free-av anti virus. links to both can be found in this post.

both bits of software are completely free and dont slow your system down like norton.

I pretty much use the same as Danno. Works fine and has a better detection rate and dealing rate than most other free Anti-virus checkers. It's always best to have a quick check around though to what's best for what you want to do.

I should add, that even ythough I seconded Dannos recommendation, I use avast too :D Only one on the market that free and works properly with XPx64

i am using:
clamwin - free open source antivirus
nod32 - very good antivirus
sygate personal firewall

zone alarm is your best bet since it can block everything. Norton does the same but its a resouce hog, if you dont want your computer to lag then don't get it.

now i have used norton for a few years now.. and i WAS a fanboy of them.

Im currently using AVG Pro and Bit defender. Now these are good.

Bit defender rocks socks.... it seeing virus and trojans before AVG even gets near them :)

Even wen i deliberately go on a site with a trojan on it... bitdefender tells me 3 times that theres a trojan before AVG even blinks :)

but.. i liked norton for being the strongest out there... iv never had a virus while using it... nor been hacked.

So the flames on norton are sometimes a bit mean :)
