Samsung 64GB 2.5" SATA-II MLC Solid State Hard Drive

http://images.novatech.co.uk/ev-sam-ssd64m1.jpg

Samsung's Solid State Drive (SSD) is an advanced NAND flash-based solution for traditional storage, leveraging the company's longtime leadership in memory technology. This next-generation solution offers several advantages over rotating magnetic media such as significantly lower power consumption, remarkable ruggedness, high reliability, less weight and outstanding performance.

The SSD system is currently selling as an alternative high-end storage device for notebooks by many major PC manufacturers. The SSD's weight is less than that of a conventional hard drive, thus further increasing easy system portability. The device also uses significantly less power. This gives users more battery life.

Samsung's Solid State Drive performance is greater than traditional storage. In addition, random search times are the faster on the SSD, which is not subject to fragmentation and maintains its performance over time.

As a non-volatile storage device, the SSD has no moving parts such as the motor, disks and heads of a hard drive. Thus it eliminates spin-up time, seek time and rotational latency while delivering sustained high-speed data transfers. The SSD's lack of moving parts makes it noise-free and its ultra-low power consumption virtually eliminates heat emissions.

The SSD is also highly rugged, standing up to shock and vibration. These performance features make it well suited to a broad range of users. These include "road warrior" business professionals, as well as those in demanding military and industrial areas. Samsung designed the SSD's footprint to be interchangeable with a hard disk drive. Furthermore, because the SSD is form-factor agnostic, the flash components can be arranged to meet virtually any size or shape configurations.

Features
- Read Speed of 90MB/s
- Write Speed of 70MB/s
- Onboard 64MB Cache
- Samsung Controller

Whats better for gaming 790fx or 790gx?

there essentially the same but gx has onboard graphics which you don't need if you use a graphics card.

I see...So what are the differences between this board and the Biostar TA790GX which is about £20 cheaper with 128mb onboard memory?
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BIO-TA790G
Apart from the fact that its made by ASUS.

The Asus M3A79-T is an older full bandwidth crossfire Spider platform 790FX board. But for a mere £100, I would fancy it. It is built like a tank, and should overclock any AM2+ or AM3 really well.

Gibbo and I discussed it some time back for overclocking the then new Phenom II 940BE, which has a hefty power draw.

Hi m8

The Asus M3A79-T Deluxe is a **** good board and works with these chips, am sure there is others as well.

I had to agree, but the price of £140 at the time was a bit of a shock. For a mere £100, it's a steal. I've found a hugely positive response at newegg for it.

Meh, I had to pay £120 for my ASUS M3A79-T about 3 weeks ago. Seeing that new price is just killing me! I wish I waited till you came back from holiday GIBBO! :D

I can testify to the awesome overclocking performance of that board. It took my old phenom 9600 to 2.7ghz at stock voltage with +2% ACC.

my Samsung 64GB MLC drive arrived. amazing drive for anyone who hasn't jumped onto the SSD wagon.

moved my User and ProgramData onto a WD Black 1TB (may move them to Raptor for mooooor speed) and even then, Windows Vista 64bit starts up around 30s. sidebar appears instantly. overall Windows feels snappier, not to mention quieter than Raptor.

Firefox and other heavy profile based doesn't start as fast as i expect. it's probably due to the User profiles on a slower drive.

thats a great price on a great board. i really cannot recomomend the biostar790gx board with that board at barely over £100 anyone considering amd atm i cannot say enough how amazing the m3a79t is..

Whats better for gaming 790fx or 790gx?

790fx mobos are the highest end amd boards bar maybe the nvidia 780i. which both are gamer overclocker / enthusiast level

fx boards are made for multi gpu up to quad crossfire and runs dual crossfire in 16x 16x speeds where a gx board only does 8x 8x,

while this board is an 'older board' that means barely a year (9months sept 08) and is using the latest chipset which wont be updated till next year.. in fact many review sites say this is better than the am3 m4a79t deluxe and that many of the am3 boards arent worth the upgrade right now< so this is possibly one of the best amd mobos until the new chipsets... there we go

Hurray the Vertex's have dropped :D

Gibbo - is there an ETA of the WD Green 1.5tb drives at all? Also will you be stocking the Samsung 1.5TB eco drive?
