Hello, i had successfully installed windows 7 on my laptop without any problems with the 32bit version 7127.
I have come to install it on my computer bui i cant. I have windows vista 64bit install on the main hard drive, which is partitioned by 100 gigs for windows 7.
The problem is when i put the disk in and boot from windows 7, it just hangs on starting windows. The little windows icon stops moving after about 5 mins and its froze.
Ive tried safe mode, but it freezes on please wait after loading the last driver.
SO, i tried downloading the 64bit version of windows 7, think that it could be because my current vista version is 64bit.
But i still have the same problem.
Ive tried switching hard drives to a clean one with nothing on it, but it stays on the starting windows screen, the only difference is that the windows icon in the center doesnt lock up.
Ive tried running the disk with no hard drives attached and windows 7 loads up to the point where it can find no drivers and asks you to select them.
Ive trie3d installing it directly onto the partition inside vista, but then on the restart, it again locks up.
The fact that ive disconnected my main hard drive and it still doesnt work, is very strange. This means there is no primary operating system for any driver conflicts to occur on. Its basically like having a brand new system.

any ideas?

do you have a Blu-Ray drive present by any chance?

Id be inclined to investigate the drivers...another possibility could be failed hardware. Try disconneting everything and just plugging in the very bare essentials to get windows running...another possibility could be your mobo but if you can boot from vista ok on the same system then its got to be down to w7 or drivers id say..

its hard to believe 7 is responsible at all. It's just Vista covered in a crunchy outer shell! Most Vista drivers work ok in 7 and especially for the sake of the install process. Agreed with removing all parts from both the back and inside. Make sure anything like a printer or iPod or anything with external storage options is defienelty out. Try entering BIOS and turning OFF options like the onboard sound and LAN with the intention of switching them back on after.
