Hi there. I have been having some problem with my windows Vista at the moment.

I can boot into Vista perfectly with no problems at all, but the problem is here :

1)Once I'm on the desktop, doing nothing, I count to 75.
2)When I reach 75, my computer's hard drive starts to do something.
3)Mouse pointer begins to stutter.
4)Mouse completley stops.
5)Total system crash.

I think that it is my motherboard that is incompatible with something in Vista. I have previously suspected that it was my graphics card becuase when I disabled my graphics adapter, (GeForce 7600GT 256MB PCI-E) It seemed to work without any trouble, apart from it looked ugly while in VGA mode.

The reason why i don't think that it is my graphics card is becuase I had the same trouble with my old GeForce 6200 256MB Turbocache. Although they are both Nvidia chipsets, i do not beleive that is the drivers that are causing this problem due to nobody else with the same graphics cards having this same problem with the latest nvidia drivers.

This all could be something to do with the software itself, but I doubt it becuase it works for everybody else (mostly, anyway). I have no way of finding out what it being loaded by the time I count to 75 (Not to my knowledge anyway) that is making my computer crash. My dad said it was the graphics drivers being loaded, however I doubt this becuase I have full functionality of all graphics and areo effects before the full system lock up.

So if any Novatech/Forum user techies are out there and know what may be wrong, please help! One of the main reasons I purchased the 7600GT from novatech is becuase I wanted to run Windows Vista.

Thanks for reading this post (Sorry it's so long, I just have no idea what is going on with my system).

P.S I bought the computer from Novatech and it has been very reliable ever since i've had it. (With Windows XP, anyway)

Are you running vista compliant drivers for everything? Anything in eventvwr?

Remember its still in beta & not released yet - bugs will be present, and fixed eventually.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I have run event viewer, and I found an error. The error is as follows:

IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 1, function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

I'm not quite sure what this means, but i'm guessing it's somewhere in the region of my graphics card plugged into my PCI-E socket.

does it happen at the same time the pc crashes?

I don't think so becuase i've crashed every time vista boots up, but it has only registered it about 4 times.
