i recently installed windows 7 onto my advent laptop.
when it had vista on, when used a Fn + F10 for example, that would turn my wireless on and off, and a prompt would come up in the middle of the screen.
this would also apply with my caps key and scroll lock, and it getting some what anoying because i can tell if caps is on or not when typing a password because there is no LED on my laptop. bit stupid :(.
the key commands still work on windows 7, but i dont get the prompt anymore. is there a download site i can get the drivers off of?
i cant find an advent support website or driver download. is there one where i can get these off?
thanks in advance.

there might be beta drivers for this, however, does it really matter?
remember the release is not the full thing, so there will be some gaps though i would have though the drivers for Vista should suffice.
As long as the functions are working, can you not just get on with it.
On a side note, when you say a notification, do you mean, for example, that if you where to alter the volume or mute the speakers, you get a graphical speaker bar change or a speaker appears then has a line put through it to show it as muted, then it disapears fromthe middle of the screen.
If thats the case, and what your after, your not likely to get anything like that except from the manufacturer of the laptop.
ps.
sorry had to laugh, you've chosen that name then start asking questions which needs a tech guru to answer.
heheheh, ironic.
oh, love the guru snap from The Love Guru

Have you trieed the Manfucfacturer( in this case Advent)'s Website?
they dont have a website. or at least from what i can find. googled it, yahooed it, binged it, lived it, and nothing related to advent computer manufactures.
that was the first place i tried, but couldn't find them.

This is because Advent is a PC-World (yay !) re-brand of various laptop chassis - exactly what Nova do with their laptops. The driver support is notoriously rubbish but if you care to post up the model number of your laptop, I'm sure we'll be able to find a collection of drivers that would match the original installation.
Thing is... it's probably not a 'driver' as such. Just a program that sits in the background, monitors kepyresses and displays to the screen as appropriate. It *will* be out there somewhere... just need some more info !

Righty... well the drivers were easy enough to find, but that's not what you need. Somewhere on the disk that came with your machine is the program that will display the caps/lock wireless status etc. but it will be tough to find.
So.... a quick Google of freeware/shareware turned up a myriad of programs that will do exactly what you want - sounds/animations etc. can be assigned to any combination of keys and will display on-screen text, show up in the system tray.. pretty much whatever you want. They range from free to around a tenner.
I can't recommend any of them as I've never used them, but it should solve your minor annoyance.
