Ok, so in bios i overclocked my q9550 to 3.5GHz, but when i look in CPU-Z, im getting 2.4GHz, and the multi has gone down to 6, instead of 8.5.

FSB=412

Motherboard is Gigabyte EP45-UD3R.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedStep

It's for power saving.

yup under load it will shift the multi back up, it has been known to cause BSOD's but just keep an eye on it

Disable speedstep or C1E or anything else to do with speedstep. It causes instability.

The reason why CPUZ has rejected your validation is because your system is not stable enough for it to dump all the required information so it is classed as a fail. You need to have a stable system in order to be able to get a valid CPUZ verification.

speedstep only causes issues on the edge of stability from what i've heard, i've never had any problems, energy saving ftw!

I have looked on the internet a bit and found that cpu-z can be hacked, so it rejects things that keep changing, like with the speedstep thing, keeps going inbetween 2.4 and 3.5

LOL I had an absolute panic attack on your behalf when I read 2.2v just now...

Also what's DDR 18 lol?!?! you have some number issues :p :D

To answer your "is it good" question. Well yes, it does look promising IF those settings aren't the "max stable" clocks/volts (you'd know if they were because any more and the PC would crash or not even boot/post)

DDR18V - 2.176V

Find out what this is as it seems high.

It depends on the RAM to whether 2.2v is high, some are rated for higher (i have 2.3v rated stuff)
Yeah, i wouldnt bother disabling the power saving features, as they will save you money, and wont affect stability at this kinda overclock.
