No no he won't have to pay roaming charges.
Orange have listed on their website that they have abolished those charges aswell =]
Does that mean that his calls from Bulgaria to UK will cost the same as if he were in UK?

No matter where you are in the world, all calls and texts will be the standard UK rate =]
That's what i'm led to believe anyway.
I'll put it to the test in september when i'm off to spain :P

nooooo, i wish that were true :o
They've gotten rid of roaming so its no longer possible to have standard UK charged calls abroad at all, all calls will be at international rates. They have dramatically dropped international rates to compensate for this.

Well that's not too bad then =]
What about the people on contract phones?

The problem was that roaming was restricted to a specific sister network in another country and a lot of people didn't understand how it worked so they would use the wrong network or when they'd lose service the phone would jump onto a new network. People ended up thinking they were using contract minutes but were actually on the wrong network racking up huge bills. They've simplified the whole thing with much more reasonable internation rates and no roaming. It sucks for those of us who aren't stupid but i can understand the reasoning!
