tried this other day and worked pretty cool!!

if you dont like sticky out adapters on your PC, hide them inside the PC this way!

note: this will invalidate your mouse's warranty, do this at your own risk, its quite easy though.

My set up is a Chenbro Gaming Bomb case, Foxconn 661M04 socket 478 motherboard, popular components supplied from Novatech plus the nice Logitech cordless mouse which has the "slice of cheese" usb receiver.

Some people on some other forums told me this couldnt be done as the metal chassis of the PC would shut out the radio waves of the adapter, with the adapter stowed in the plastic case front where a front fan would go it works a treat.

You need to have a set of available pins on your motherboard which are used for a USB port backplate.

get a USB port backplate (got one for £2 from ebay) remove and discard the metal plate.

use cable ties to fix the cables somewhere secure inside your PC's chassis

Remove the front panel of the case, where the vents for a front mounted fan is, get some sidecutters or tin snips and chop a "+" shaped piece out of the metal, it needs to just be big to thread the USB connector through.

take your Logitech cordless receiver, and remove the screw hidden under the label, and remove the circuit board and bin the two halves of the plastic casing.

the Gaming Bomb case is great as I found luck would have it, there is a plastic shaft on the front case panel which the hole in the circuit board fits on to the hole EXACTLY!!! it shouldnt move at all, but put some insulation tape on the metal chassis of the case, just in case, to make sure there is no risk of shorts.

connect the USB port inside the socket in the case. Snap the front panel of the PC back on.

Enjoy your adapter-less PC!!

Will probably put a bluetooth adapter on the other socket inside the machine at some point

Im guessing the adapter for Logitech's cordless keyboards is the same, should also work.
