Hiya Guys
Im after some advice, as my sig says, im building my new gaming rig. At the moment... im stuck at what sort of PSU i need.
The dual core processor, once its overclocked does not use much extra power, but some guy reakons i need a 700w to power these cards in SLI.
Any ideas?
i intend on having 2 x GeForce 7900 GS 512MB and the items in my sig
cheers

700W,no way
hiper 580W will do fine
700W generic :D
Depends on how well you want to future proof, if thats at all possible. I have a PCP&P 550W, even thats excessive for your new spec, the Hiper will see you fine, along with a half decent upgrade in the future.

you can always get a PSU booster that goes in the front optical drive bays which supply EG. 300W purely for the gfx cards

I find this website good for finding what psu to get but once you find the wattage go for a psu that states the test temperatures like hiper http://extreme.outervision.com/index.jsp

yeah i have been looking at hiper.
I have been looking at hipers. They seem to be ok. I have been offered a 600w PSU, but it doesnt have PCI-E connectors. I have some Molex to PCI-E adaptors, would you say to take the 600w, convert it to 1 or possibly 2 PCI-E connectors, or stick with a PSU that comes with PCI-E connectors as standard?

What make and model is it?
If it doesn't have pcie connectors, check also whether it has a 20 or 24pin mobo connector...

pass on the make. Just a random i think. It has a 24pin which snaps off the end 4 pins to make it a 20pin if needed.
So it will go on most mobos, just not got a PCI-E connector... didnt know if this was dodgy

One of these should do the trick. I'm suprised Novatech don't stock them.

you need a good power supply
get the hiper 580W, it is SLI compatable and is a very good PSU for the money!
Can you post the specs of your PSU? There should be a sticker on the side that shows how how many AMPs are on each Voltage rail.
