I have just bought a (Novatech Ndisk 3500 320Gb 8Mb Cache 3.5" SATA External USB Hard Drive), but am having problems with it locking up.

Every time I try to access the drive, the red light comes on and Windows XP freezes. The only way to free up the computer is to remvoe the USE cable or turn off the external hard drive. Some times the drive will allow access to files for a short period before locking up, other times it will lock up straight away.
Windows also then displays 'Delayed Write Failure' messages on the bottom toolbar.

I've installed the drivers which came with the CD, but I can't trace any other problem with it. My PC is an up to date Novatech Model.

Can ayone help with this problem?

Ive also got one of these, but mine has the red light on most of time, or at least every time i look at it. Mine seems fine despite this.

I'm trying to install an Ndisk 3500. Naively I thought it would just plug in and work but apparently not. There are no instructions with the unit.

Novatech say I have to partition the disk but I can't get Windows Disk Management to recognise that the unit is there.

Advice please
