I use Win7 RC.

I normally select which programs are allowed to automatically contact the Internet. ie update themselves, virus checkers etc.

This is usually done through the firewall, but there seems to be a different arrangement on 7.

It has left me totally confused, it appears to look for the part of the application that is looking for access, this is beyond the bounds of my comprehension.

I know on the Mac there is a program that you can run that monitors your internet access and stops items connecting of their own accord.

Does anybody know of any such thing that I could use on this program, Win 7.

So far apart from the above problem, I like Win 7 a lot and I think that it is a vast improvement over all that has gone before.

Im also on W7, using comodo firewall. To be fair, comodo seems to act just like it did in win xp pro (my last os) asking permissions to access internet as soon as an application has finished installing / first access...havent noticed anything different here

Can you call up a list of applications and specify which to bar and which to allow access?

On comodo, under firewall settings you have a couple of menus that control application access:

Define a new trusted application
Define a new blocked application

Hope this helps.
