Hi - I'm considering purchasing the above, and note that it comes with # ATI M54 128MB PCI Express High Performance Graphics with DVI... now my external screen does not support DVI - Can someone confirm that the laptop includes as standard the normal external (i presume Analog) screen connector?
Seems a silly question - but when I look at my latest IBM laptop from work there's no PS2 connectors, no serial port etc - its all expected to be USB..
Thanks in advance,
Steve
Ok, just to fill you in on the that.
All or Most new range Pc's/Servers/Laptops do not have PS/2 connections. They do not have Floppy drives. They do not have parallel ports. Some Have serial ports but you might have to add this onto your pc if a desktop and they provide you the back panel. Also Serial ports are slowly going to the type that look like NIC ports. These though are wired totally different.
Everything is going USB.
Also does not matter if your laptop only has the output for DVI-A/D/I as you can easily pick up an DVI to VGA adaptor which costs like £2 apx.

I've not seen a laptop with both. The connection will be dsub or dvi.
General question - why are people so unwilling to upgrade interfaces and peripherals in the last few years?
I didn't hear people complaining as cassettes were phased out. No one misses the 5 pin DIN keyboard connector. Gamers are happy to abadon the joystick interface.
USB is easier and faster. The only application that we should still see for older connections is industries where specific, very expensive, computer controlled devices are used. Everyone else... get a new scanner :p
Whats he goning on about???
