can someone please tell me in idiot stylee , can i upgrade the memory on my winfast K8S 755A motherboard to 2gb of 3200 400 high density ddr ram using 1gb in each slot and a 512mb in the other slot.for a total of 2and a half gb as someone told me the board won`t recognise high density ram , is this true or not???
please help a complete newbie...
2gb of 3200 400 high density ddr ram
High density ddr ram????? Whats that? Never known it to be called that before.
Well basicly it can take Unbuffered (normal RAM, eg not ECC and not REG RAM.), 2.5V DDR266/333/400,
3 x 184-pin DIMM sockets, max 3GB basicly 1 GB max per slot.
Soo, you can put in eg, 1GB 400MHz stick in slot one, 1GB 400MHz stick in slot two, and 512MB 400MHz stick in slot three.

Well i`m a bit of a herbert but i thought much the same as you. so hopefully if the tossers from across the water get their **** in gear and send me the bloody stuff i`ll be able to try it out.
p.s wot effect should 1 and a half gb of ddr ram have on the performance of my pc and should i really be thinking along the lines of new motherboard / dual processor or will my current motherboard take a dual processor.
p.p.s told you i really am a BERK.
THANKS GREATLY FOR HELPING I DO APPREECIATE YOUR EFFORTS

more RAM will give you more performance, able to run more tasks at once, and if you do gaming, then you can have ultra smooth gameplay :D

re the ram, you have a cheap (sorry) motherboard there, get the compatibility list and look at that. You may well find it does not like single sided memory, or double, and/or only certain combos in certain slots.
Nox
as a bit of a guess, high density sounds like its due to the amount of data they cram into a chip? ie 1GB into 4 chips rather than 8, or something? making the chips double over single sided?
Pass.
