are you an intel fanboy or an AMD addict
Have you got a case already??
motherboard bundle??
have a gander at this
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... MBB-C2D635 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MBB-C2D635)
or build the thing yourself.
But the LGA775 core 2 duo's are the best at the moment

how about something like this
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... p5vmdh&P=1 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?asu-p5vmdh&P=1)
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... l?IL-E6300 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?IL-E6300)
and i know it isnt very good but............
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... ?CSR-VS671 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?CSR-VS671)
but you arent on the biggest budget, and the corsair values can actually be quite good, they arent made from rubbish chips etc.
and with the value memory, you could get a core 2 duo E6400

theres alot more cheap AM2 motherboards than LGA775
maybe be able to save enough and get 2GB RAM
but conroe (core 2 duo) perfroms alot better than AMD's offerings

From the AMD side what would you get?
An Intel :D
Nox
Thats a good article, if someone was on a budget and wanted amd - I would recommend something like that, or even a s939 based system - very similar performance.

i found a way for the intel side:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 2 x 1.86Ghz 2Mb Cache 1066 FSB Dual Core Processor
Corsair Value Select 1024Mb (2x512mB) Kit 667MHz 240Pin 1GB DDR2 RAM DIMM 1.8V
Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 Socket 775 DDR2 PCI-E
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Socket 775 CPU Cooler
Also would i be able to OC with this system to say 2.6Ghz for the Cpu?

not bad
seeing that you are on such a tight budget, it is good
Even though Intel technically over clocks/under clocks there C2D, I don’t see why you can’t quite honestly. Anyways, for mobos if you are an AMD fanatic get the DFI Lanparty range. They are the best AMD boards about to my knowledge.

probably be able to run at 1024*768 all settings max'd out.
i did it with my system, your CPU is better than mine, mine is 939, but my gfx card is a 79gt.
I could of run it higher, but i didnt have enough RAM so it would of gone all shuddery.
1GB will be the only downfall tbh, but at a later date another 1GB would do nicely in there.
and btw, the newer AM2 cpu will be called the AM2+ (apparantly) and that cpu wont go onto a AM2 board, but the AM2 cpu will be able to go onto a AM2+ board.
very confusing

he said AMD rig tax do keep up :P an i have a fair suspision you just copied half of that off my sig also what about stuff like say a hard drive and disk drive and operating system. £300. WHAT!!!!!! Buy it, its a good price. If you dont use it sell it on ebay and make some ££££ out of it.
1, Mobo is good. (£100-£150 Range)
2, RAM is good. (£150-£200 Range)
3, CPU is good. (£100-£400 Range.)

I don't mind, what ever you thinks best
ok, So correct me if im wrong. You just want one card and one card only in your system. You are not going to expant in the future and go sli or crossfire etc...
ok, if that above is correct then......
The X1950 XTX OR XT are both good cards. One is more $$$ then the other as you can see. They are like the 8800GTX and 8800GTS cards but ATI's. Now you could also get the 8800GTS. Although its a little on the ££$$£$£$£ side of things but worth it.
You can get I think, s x X1950 Pro Crossfire cards within £200 now i think. Might be wrong.

The X1950 Pro is the crossfire edition. All you need is 2 x X1950 Pro's and you have crossfire. With all other cross fire cards, you need a master and slave card. With the X1950 Pro, you do not need a master card. Just 2 X1950 Pro cards.

i he doesnt have the money for a 8800 gts at the moment so he could get 1 1950 pro for the moment which will take on and game with medium to high settings and when you have the money he could get a another 1950 pro instead of waiting longer to get a 8800gts
umm, we were actualy refuring to me getting the 8800GTX/GTS just then mate.

oh rite sry  im a bit slow....
Right thats it. Im appealing for the sig for all people to be chenged to there system before they post anymore. This is getting insane. How are we supost to know what components people have unless we interigate them. It would be far easyer if all new users had in there sig there system spec. We should also make a catagory on the top of the forums called START HERE and a forum named READ BEFORE POSTING!!! Here should have the rules for the forums and also a step by step guide as to how to make there sig.
The reason why im saying this is simple.
Tacul has just put in the last few posts this here as folllows:
Ok ill go for the HIS X1950 Pro ill get another one later when i have the monney Would i be able to play bf2142 on max settings + res and anti aliasing etc with just one of these cards?

Thanks again
P.s can someone confirm for me that this mobo can support 800 MHz ram thanks
Now I dont supose anyone has been to the Asrock website and taken a look at his mobo that he is getting/got???? "Asrock Conroe945G "
Well for those who are disabled I have put a link here: http://www.asrock.com/product/ConRoe945G-DVI.htm
Tacul. Is this the correct board that you have or are getting???
If so then STOP THIS TOPIC NOW FOR 10 SECONDS!!!! This board does NOT support SLI, and does NOT support Crossfire.
So, if you really want this mobo you will need only a single PCI-E GFX card. So there for It will be better off if you get the 8800GTS or GTX or to get the X1950 XTX.
Sorry about this Tacul.
