does your board support SLI??
they can be used on an SLI board without a connector.
but if your board supports SLI then it should of come with it.

to get one you can always try ebay

well its an asrock xfire which is one of those picky mobos that is a mix between crossfire and sli it supports only certain types of gfx cards from particular manufacturers

if the board doesnt fully support SLI and doesnt come with a connector, then i would ask questions first, then buy items

hang on.... why get 2x 7600gts why not get a single 7900 card? theyd be faster because you only get about a 70% performance boost from sli.

The most demanding game i want to play is Oblivion and two 7600gt's have about the same performance as a 7900gt and they cost about the same if i get the asus version which i need if i am going to sli them. Also the 7900gt costs too much :)

187 for a 7900gt :?
isnt that much, compared to a 79gtx

JDowdall

i know but i cant have anything over £150 as I actually have no money like most other 14 yr olds...unlike *cough*tekno*cough*

why not go for a 1900GT, they perfrom really well and are quite good value for money :D
or a 1800XT/1900XT if you can afford or find one cheap enough

JDowdall
21-11-2006, 04:32 PM
Rub it in why dont ya tekno   i mite but i dont think the agi slot supports some of them and i think that the 1st edition 1900gts r gone on novatech and they arent supported by the mobo and the gecube x1800 xt is nowhere to be seen so i think te best gfx card solution would be wither dual 7900's or 7600gts.and the dual 7900s r a bit xpensive

what about a 7900gs??
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... ?NOV-79GS5 (http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-79GS5)
ugly as sin, but it isnt going to be out in the open and seen every day...................is it?

JDowdall
21-11-2006, 04:39 PM
isnt supported :( also it needs to be either an ASUS 7800GTX or 7900 GT or a LEADTEK 7800 GT or 7800 GTX

teknokid
21-11-2006, 05:22 PM
why?

JDowdall
21-11-2006, 05:28 PM
as my mobo is not a proper sli thing it only supports certain gfx cards (like the ones mentioned above) hence the need for sli connectors

teknokid
21-11-2006, 05:33 PM
all sounds a bit complicated for 2 7600gt's

JDowdall
21-11-2006, 05:37 PM
it would've been a good mobo even if it wasnt dual gfx able so it doesnt matter and anyways dual 7600gts should play all the games i want to so i dont need an 8800 gtx thing as like most people i dont have a seemingly limitless supply of money  tell us when your getting the second 8800gtx then?

why not get a single 7900gs

JDowdall
21-11-2006, 05:44 PM
because of the upgrade path. I couldnt sli that.

and, SLI is all hype, a single 7900gs will be very good, better than 2 7600's

teknokid
21-11-2006, 06:42 PM
exactly as tax said.

JDowdall
22-11-2006, 09:01 AM
but if later on want to get better performance i could'nt get another 7900gs wheras if i go for a 7600gt i could

GN

just ordering my 8800gtx....

or you just get one of them instead of Xfire and SLI.

i was going to get SLI, and i was going to get Xfire (2x X1950 Pro's) now im just going to get a 8800GTX or something on its own.

JDowdall
22-11-2006, 02:42 PM
but unlike tekno i have not enough money to buy a 8800gtx the maximum i can go up to is £130 and i think that the 7600gt would be best for that much as it can b sli'd later on

JDowdall
22-11-2006, 07:12 PM
Right thats it the search for these four gfx cards is going to drive me insane imgnow just looking for the best card in my price bracket (£140 tops) could you people help me now?

Edit: That £130 x1950 pro looks very very tasty....

Taxation
22-11-2006, 08:50 PM
the 1950 pro isnt very tastey, tastes a bit bitter for me....................................... wait................. yea that card is a good performer, i think it is surposed to be taking on the nvidia 7950gt, someone correct me if im wrong

JDowdall
22-11-2006, 08:54 PM
For that price the only competition looks like the 7900 gs which it soundly beats also if it is supposed to taking on the 7950 then its about the same performance as that but is about £50 cheaper

depends on what games you play, battlefield games prefer ATI and doom 3 and quake 4 prefer nvidia
