I am close to giving up as I believe I have tried everything!
I got a barebone system from Novatech about a year ago, it has a Foxconn 6497 mobo and cam with 512mb(2x256 ram chips).
I installed windows and after about an hour got my first blue screen!
I restarted it and thought it was just a conflict but sure enough I got another one the next day, and so on.
What I don't get is why I am getting a Blue screen with both ram slots taken up and no blue screen when only 1 slot is taken up.
I took my comp down to Novatech and the technician said it was fine!
So I bought some new ram but still the same prob. The slots themselves are fine, I have run tests and am now at the end of my rope.
I was hoping some kind person could help me find out why my comp blue screens and/or resets for no reason.

My spec is:
Foxconn 6497 Motherboard (matx)
Intel P4 3.0 Ghz HyperThreading
2x1024mb RAM (delta branded)
Maxtor Diamond 10 160GB SATA (150Mbps)
Nvidia-Msi 6600 256mb
Sony Q30A DVD RW
Thermaltake 500W PSU

I just can't believe this but I used a program called memtest 32 and it found about 100 errors with the ram I was using, weird as its new and I put in the slot I suspected originally.
I will swicth the ram around tomorrow and see if I get the same errors again. If I do I'll have to get a new Mobo, can anyone suggest any decent upgrades for me?

anyone...no.........................most will probably say for you to go to conroe, but i will say, that with a working cpu, keep the same socket mobo. i dont know what socket your motherboard is
what is it??

go with either a core 2 duo if you have the money or something like an amd 3800+ dual core

I did recommend an abit ic-7 but just realised you have a micro atx board - you'll probably have more luck finding one of those tbh - i recently bought some acer shuttle with a decent mobo, tv card, remote, onboard gfx etc for £100 new - just takes a bit of hunting.
