Did anyone watch this last night?
I'm sure the DVD I saw a coupla years back was the Director's Cut with a gloomy ending.
Last night, the film I saw had the protagonist fix his horrible past by minor alterations into a happy ending.
The gist of the film is a guy tries to fix his past so it turns out better. But everything he does actually makes it worse.
It is a deeply brilliant film, whatever the ending. Anyone else seen this?

I own it on DVD and have only ever seen the doom and gloom ending. I didn't even know they did a happy ending version. Think I'd prefer the unconventioanl, gloomy ending just because it's actually quite refreshing and more thought provoking.
It is a great movie, in any case. Ashton isn't even annoying, for once :-)
It's actually been a while since I've seen a movie that has me thinking about it for a good few hours after. In need of a fix - but it has to be something new!

The theory of the Butterfly Effect is that an insect flapping its wings by chance in China will cause a Hurricane in Texas.
I think this is rubbish in human terms. If I caught my woman snogging another guy after a few drinks, it would not precipitate armageddon in our relationship. We have a certain ability to withstand minor shocks.
Of course, if she did it several times, I might consider a nuclear strike on the guy's homeland. Or something similarly spectacular. You catch my drift? :D

The thing that got me, Noemi, is IF Evan and Kayleigh REALLY loved each other, they would have found romance even if he had no arms and she was a crack ****.
Or am I impossibly romantic? :p

I'm interested in what you folks think about this.
1) Does life revolve around tiny incidents leading to extraordinary greater consequences in a random way?
2) Or does it all really have a flow in a certain direction that makes sense?
Discuss...
p.s. I kinda subscribe to the second view.

I think 1 for me, I think even stupid little decisions end up having massive repercussions, perhaps not quite as big as a butterfly flapping its wings and nuclear war in whatever, but looking at my own life, something as stupid as asking someone to lunch 2 years ago almost completely destroyed my life now.
Flow of my life and people around me has made me think that little decisions can change your life later on.

It's a tough one that can drive you kinda nuts thinking about it. I think I believe a bit of both. It's in our nature to look for reasons as to why things happen..maybe to find answers or just a means of blame. Sometimes I think 'argh, if only I hadn't done that, I wouldn't be in this mess"...but if that thing was meant to be, there'd be no changing it, would there?

I really enjoyed the first one, and would go as far as putting it in my top 10. I have not bothered watching the sequels, can't be that good if it has none of the original cast.

osxkris--- you should watch the second one just to see how bad it is! It's got Lois Lane from Smallville in it and the story is just so dull it was unreal. Has no bearing on the 1st film at all. I actually told Charlotte to watch it---- i don't think i've been forgiven yet! ; p

Interesting for sure but it didn't do as much for me as I might have hoped.
I think heading in that direction, have you ever seen a German one, "Run, Lola, Run?"

Brilliant film, the second one was just a cheap re-make, still need to see the 3rd, apparently that's more of a horror.
