View Full Version : Newbie Question re: 64bit from Novatech

I am thinking of buying a Energizer PC from Novatech but I would want a 64bit, not a 32bit Windows OS (by the time I buy it, the OS will most probally be Win7), but I cannot see an option for 64bit when I "Select" the system.

How do I go about: buying a 64bit Win7 (or any OS), from Novatech for the new PC / ensuring that the OS selected is a 64bit and not a 32bit OS?

Thankyou in advance,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

The easiest way is to ask for no OS installed when you purchase the new system and buy a copy of the OS you're after from the shop seperately. That way you make sure you get what you want. However you will have to install it yourself, no biggie, right?

But wouldnt it technically be illegal for him to buy his own OEM copy because getting retail would cost more.

I'd suggest PM'ing Amy as she maybe able to assist you on this one.

Retail Win7 has both 32 and 64bit on the same disc so if you go to install it you should have the option.

Technically it is illegal but so what? I have OEM installed on all my systems. ****** MS if they think I am going to pay over double for the exact same thing!!

Cheers for the responces, I will look in to Win7 having both and/or contact Amy for assistance (once I locate her).

Technically it is illegal

Um, no it isn't.

OEM software can be supplied legally with a mobo, HDD or CPU. So if he's buying a whole PC, no problem.

You don't need to buy it with hardware anymore; changed a couple of years ago (one of my previous companies confirmed it with MS).

Well, it used to be the case but either way, it's not illegal.

It would not be "illegal" anyway, just a breach of the EULA and that is a civil matter not criminal.
