Any ideas anybody?

I have the OEM version of Microsoft Works Suite 2003 which came with my old computer and I am now trying to load it onto the new computer.

It wasn't pre loaded, I have the discs and the box with the product key, but it still will not load.

Q: Am I wasting my time trying to get it to load? Is there something built into the disc to stop it being loaded onto other computers?

If anyone can advise it would be appreciated, or if you have any wrinkles to get round the problem please let me know.

Many thanks,
CAB

You should be able to install this direct onto your machine.

What O/S are you rinning?
Mow much RAM do you have? and what type? eg SDR, DDR, DDR2
What motherboard do you have?
What hard disk/s do you have and do you have this as a riad?
etc...

Once I know what your system is and what os you have, then I can tell you it is compatibility issues or what not...

Thanks for your reply GN.

O/S - Windows XP Home Edition (same as the old computer)

The new computer is a brand new Novatech Executor 6400 with intel Core 2 Duo, 2MB Cachee etc etc. So working capacity shouldn't be a problem.

Motherboard - Not sure - its not listed in the system resources and yes, I think it is raid controlled.

This isn't the only disc I have been unable to load, so it will be going back to Novatech for them to look at next time we are down there.

However, if you do have any suggestions I would like to them a try. I was just trying to ascertain whether it was a block on the Microsoft Disc to stop it being used more than once.

Thanks again,
CAB

sorry mate, that does not tell me anything apart from your running a C2D E6400 for the CPU and you have XP Home for the O/S. It should tell you the type of motherboard you have when you boot your PC. Its the 1st screen you see, were it promps you to hit Del or F2 to get into the bios. The info that you are after is located at the top left or center of the screen when this apears. In order to write it down, if you press the key on your keyboard named "Pause Break" the pc will stop at that screen and not move.

Hi GN,

I did you suggested but the screen doesn't stop.

I will have to ask Novatech for the specifics of my build.

Thanks for trying to help anyway.

Thanks everyone in trying to help. I have however found the problem which will enable me to close this post.

It would appear that the disc was damaged and I took it to my local Funhouse shop and they ran it through their disc cleaner/repairer.

I have now managed to load it O.K.

Many thanks anyway,
