Hi!
Just got the Orion Duo T5500 without OS...
Anyhow, was installing windows XP professional and on a reboot the Laptop didn't boot properly.
Instead, it beeped whilst the screen remained black and then a further series of beeps (I can only describe it as) 'fading in'. The fans, and disc drive however are turned on - there's just no activity on the screen.
This had even happened before the OS install, however had not paid much attention to it, as I believed it was to do with the lack of OS.
Anyway, windows now installed with SP2, and drivers installed (without internet access - i.e. no Virii)... suddenly whilst copying (safe) files from a USB key - the screen shuts off. Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del twice to see whether it is merely the screen that's shut down, but there's no reaction.
The fans and discdrive however are still running.
Restart the laptop again, and find out (via non-system disc error message) that the Bios boot sequence is on odd priorities - so fix it so the boot is first from hard-drive, then from CDrom.
This none-the-less has unnerved me quite alot, as i will be using the laptop for live music - and therefore need it to be as stable, and powerful as possible. This random, sudden shut-down could lead to serious problems.
Anyway, any help would be great - if this has been reported before, or whether it's something to do with the BIOS etc.
All the best,
Cheers in advance
Nik
P.S. Have also just now had a blue screen of death and a message regarding an "infinite loop" problem (discussed in a thread below)
Hmm... really really would some help with this, supposed to be doing a gig on Friday too! :(
