Nice, Mr Gibbo.
I'm just left to ponder when they're ever going to let AGP die. It's old.. why try to carry it further?

To allow people who still have an AGP system to upgrade.

Hi there
Most have left it too die, but certain manufacturers see an area they can easily get in on with very little competition.
Gainward did it about a year ago with some truly awsome cards and needless to say they sold like hot cakes.
Now HIS is hoping they can also make a quick buck by making the 4670 available to AGP users.
Its ideal for anyone wanting Direct 10.1 and the extra performance, as the 4670 is quite a bit quicker than the 3850 AGP thats also available. Plus the fact this HIS card has the ICEQ cooler and HDMI as well gives someone on an AGP system a decent upgrade without having to worry about upgrading their PSU to handle it.
Thats a good card for AGP. Nice for them to have the more up to date Direct X features.

Hmm spec wise it seems slower than a 3850 since it only has a 128bit memory bus. On the other hand it is a newer more efficient core but I'd say they would be roughly equal surely?

Hi there
You are indeed correct, I overlooked the memory interface, had just seen the greater core and memory speeds.
I'd therefor say this is no doubt quicker at resolutions sub 1024x768, however at resolutions beyond this Id say it would be more equal.

I'm also surprised we still see AGP cards like this. I would have thought that anyone who would be in the market for a gfx card of this performance would be highly unlikely to still be using an AGP based system. But evidently there are.

AGP is still alive and kicking for some people I sold my Gainward 7800gs golden sample (fastest ever AGP at the time) for £90 at the begining of the year, it was well over 2years old. There is definately a market for these things still. But I'll be lucky to anything much for my PCI-e 9800gtx+

I'll bet it's not going to cost £620 to replace / upgrade the system

I'm on of the few that's still using an AGP machine, along with IDE and DDR1 =P
And that's my main rig which is quite appaling lol
When I buy my new main rig, I might get this to replace the sad little nvidia mx-4 in my current setup. 64mb ftw?
I'm quite happy to see agp isn't completely dead yet lol

Shame I don't have an AGP system otherwise I would buy one! =D
I read that AGP cant handle DX10 and HDMI. Its nice if someone wants a faster AGP card.

I notice a 400 Watt PSU Is reqd. I'd be surprised if many AGP rigs with a suitable PSU already fitted are still being used. If you buy a quality PSU as well as this, you start to wonder if it is worth upgrading a legacy PC. Shame that, otherwise it looks a great card.

That's just to cover themselves, in reality it would need far less :)

I accept you can get away with less than they state most times, but they must be losing sales stating a higher power requirement than is really needed. So there must be a good reason to put potential customers off a purchase by doing so.
