Hi.
I have a 42" Novatech LCD and have hooked up a dvd with HDMI output to it through an HDMI to DVI convertor cable.
I've got RCA leads connected between the player and tv for the sound. The picture comes through and looks a bit ropey but I am getting no sound at all.
I've tried connecting by scart and the sound does play with this cable.

Anyone else had problems with HDMI to DVI connections?

I use a HDMI to DVI lead to connect my TVDrive (Telewest HD) to my 32" Novatach LCD (Hyundai Q321). for sound i also use the RCA leads, I also have the TVDrive connected by the scart for SD. As you know DVI is only for video whereas HDMI uses both sound and video, the picture quality through both should be identical, both being HD Digital. I get a brilliand picture and great sound. All i can think is that your DVD Player is not able to output through RCA and HDMI at the same time (or is not set to do so), the reason your picture is a bit ropey suggests that your DVD player is not outputting in HD (720p or 1080i).
