I bought a mobo from novatech a few days ago and set up everything as I should. The problem I am having is that when I turn the power on I get no beep to confirm everything is ok, I also have no video on my monitor. The fans are working but nothing else is.

thats the POST not completing properly then which could be a couple of things

I have just taken out a mem chip and it beeped, then beeped twice. Yay!
I put it back in and same result. I just need to know what the beeps mean.

the Beeps are the POST which stands for some kind of test making sure all the components are running

Ok the prob I have now is that the system is saying the processor is being overclocked, after about 10 secs it all shuts down!!. I moved the jumper over to empty the bios but its still doing it.

urrrrr try removing every no essential component (sound card... etc) from the system. Also what sort of RAM set up do you have (etc.. 2 512mb sticks) and have you added anything or changed anything on the system lately

Its got 2gb of ram in it and I had 1gb originally.
But its a new mobo for me so not much has been changed.
I have removed all non essential components but no such luck.

this probably isnt the problem but as XP is hardware locked it doesnt like you changing the motherboard over without a fresh re-install of windows, but can you even get to windows yet. Also have you got another computer you can check the RAM in as it could be faulty

I have not actually gotten round to installing win xp yet, I disconneted the hard drive to prevent that.

The reason I changed motherboards was that I was having memory problems before. I can take them out again and try.

could it have been the RAM and not the old motherboard that was faulty? or did you test this
