revo 420 laptop backlight problem

got 2 laptops for my 2 girls for crimbo.1 works fine but the other has problem with backlight and sleep mode switch( little switch that activates when u close laptop) u can touch it with ur finger and light will flicker on and off but will also sometimes send it into sleep mode. i spent all day with the laptop yesturday (christmas day) :x reinstalled xp sevaral times nothing. little girl showed brave face all day yesturday but burst out crying 2day :cry: what i need to know is when i bring laptop bak tomorrow will it be taken away and fixed not to be returned for a week or so or will i get a replacement on the spot? it has already ruined my girls xmas and i dont want her to go any longer without a xmas present.

just looked on novatech site and they r no longer selling the revo's i bought there lowest in range now is the one up from the ones i got :(
please any info will help

If you got it less than 28 days ago there should be no problem getting a replacement

bought them on 16 november not opened or used till crimbo day but that probs not bother novatech. i'll find out 2moro taking it bak.still anyone out there know how long it will take to fix switch or will they just changed case?

If the switch is faulty you can be pretty confident Novatech will replace it. We had a problem (or thought we did) and to their credit they were very helpful and they were flexible even about their own rules. If they don't have the exact same package that probably won't matter since the differences are things like how much ram and what DVD drive which they can solve by simply building one differently.

How light a touch does it take to activate it? It is normal that pressing it would turn off the screen and send it into standby, but since you have another one to compare it with you can be sure it is wrong I guess.
