connected to netowkr but not internet! help?

i have just got a new laptop, and i have connected it to my wireless network, but i cant get on the internet. the router is all conncted and works on other computers! i can share files with other compiuters on the network from my laptop i just cant get the internet, if any 1 can help please reply!

Try checking that your online by opening explorer and going to file and making sure that its not ticked offline. Check to make sure your not trying to connect to the net using proxie settings in Explorer in tools, internet options then the connections tab then LAN connections button at the bottom and make sure none of the boxes are ticked. Then reset after if you have to change them. Also if you use a 3rd party firewall make sure its configured not to block the internet. Sounds like its proxie settings. Or you might even need to configure the proxie settings if you use this any place other than home ie on campus speak to local IT for the correct Proxie settings.

I've had this problem before, even when just entering the WEP key... If you have a BT home internet set up then just install the drivers and the whole running program on there using the key and it will work. If you have any other internet set up, then try the same thing and it may work...

p.s also check the DNS settings in your network properties to make sure its the same as the other pc's.
