that gts card takes up a lot of power a 500w might just take it but to be on the safe side go for at least a 580w and above

what if,to save some money, i was to leave the one in the pc do the mobo and cpu and the rest and then the new psu pluged up to gfx crd only as the gfx card is min 450 will that be ok

get the thrmaltake gfx psu. it has 2 6pin pci-e plugs and goes in a spare 5 1/4" bay.

so you want to run everything on your current power supply
then just your gfx card on a seperate 450W power supply??

you can do that, but the thing is, you need a power supply adapter cable, because you need both power supplies connected to the motherboard

or but the thermaltake dedicated gfx psu like i said.

but then, that thermaltake psu still needs to be connected to the old psu, which will leave cables dragging around, and isnt really worth it unless you get 2 cards in SLI

ok. shouldnt rly do this but there is an fsp version @ scan.co.uk what is modular and doesnt connect to old psu.

THEN HOW DOES IT GET POWER IF IT DOESNT CONNECT TO TH OLD PSU
there will still be cables going to it!!
get a better psu for the whole system, that is the best way to do it!

what? tax the gfx psu's power from the wall through an 2pin figure of 8 plug. the mobo connector is so they know when the system is on... the fsp used a molex.
