Hiya,
I spent 2 hours today trying to fully open my Novatech laptop, can't remember what Novatech model it is but it's got the chassis model L55110 on the bottom which seems to be fairly standard for Novatech.
I need to 1) clean the keyboard out because it's dirty and air dusting it from the top doesn't help and 2) replace the monitor's ribbon cable because I'm get video errors (lines and picture breakup) due to the cable aging from opening and closing.
I removed every screw I could see on the outside including the 4 on the edge of the base where the monitor's attached and the 6 under the battery, the ones that hold the bottom panel in place and every one around the outside edge of the bottom black panel. I also took out a few likely looking ones that go through the motherboard and released all the clips between the grey keyboard bezel and the rest of the case bit even though it was loose all the way around it still appeared stuck in the middle and I couldn't find any screw that corresponded.
Is this a case of totally gut the thing to get at one final screw under the motherboard, or am I missing something?
Even though it's irrelevant to my main need, I'd also like to know what's meant to live under the small rectangular panel on the base.
Cheers!

These units were purchased preconstructed and so we rarely opened them otherwise we'd end up invalidating the warranty. I can say that they are not the easiest to get into and it seems to involved alot of prying plastic apart - never good as you could end up breaking clips etc.

The openings on the underside of the notebook are: battery to one side, cd drive on the other, hard disc drive in the middle. The upper middle panel allows you to access the CPU, the RAM, and the CMOS battery.

OK, thanks, I guess tomorrow is the good old "remove every screw in the laptop until you get to where you want to" trick.
