As novatech are one of the few suppliers of laptops w/o windows installed I'm suprised that there isn't a dedicated forum for other OS's such as Linux. Anyway...

I have recently purchased a Revo Max T2050 and installed Linux on it. Almost everything works except the Card reader and (not unexpectedly) the modem. I cannot find any information on Linux drivers for these devices. Does anyone have any details of what make the card reader (O2 Micro?) is and whether it is a clone of another device for which a linux driver may be available?

FYI I have installed both Ubuntu 6.10 and OpenSUSE 10.1; Both seem to find most of the hardware OK (though SUSE requires the download of the ucode for the wireless LAN and some fiddling to get it going).

Check in "Other Software" for any linux + open source subjects. As for the card reader, keep googling I guess, I don't know the make of the card reader, im not allowed to play with hardware. Ubuntu has wireless already and supports most chipsets, you can use ndiswrapper for open suse aswell.

I've Now installed openSUSE10.2, the wireless works without any fiddling!

There is one thing others will need to know if they wish to install openSUSE10.2 in the Riva Max: At the Installation prompt type "maxcpus=0" as a boot option; otherwise the installler will crash as it boots up.

If no-one at Novatech knows what hardware is in the Riva Max does anyone know what the equivalent Uniwell machine ID is so I can try that route as well?
