They are. If you look around a few retailers have already done it and sold out at the promo price. Some retailers still haven't done it yet. Keep your eyes peeled.

Isn't one of the main differences between these new ones and thenold i7 chips is that these use dual not tri channel ram? Because the email you sent earlier says it has a triple channel controller which I'm guessing is wrong?

there are zero performance differences between the 2 in single threaded applications, minimal in multithreaded (if not take HT into account for compare to i5) with LGA1336, you get option to upgrade to better 6 core CPU in the future.
both are great choice, i just won my i5, otherwise i would have prefer to own a i7 860.

You're better of with an i7.
Don't EVER think that an i5 is better.

But the point is i7 costs fair bit more

i beg to differ. i5 is perfect for single GPU gaming machines. i7 920's turbo mode sucks, i5 750 is able go beat i7 in gaming when turbo mode kicks in.

Yeah but most people manually overclock
but if your running stock then i5 is the way to go.
Quick question, theory only. If say we had a OC'd 4Ghz I5 750 with Turbo disabled, vs a stable OC i5 750 with Turbo mode @ 3.6Ghz.. would would be better in gaming?
a.) 4Ghz and no Turbo mode wins
b.) The 3.6Ghz Turbo Mode gets more FPS
Both high stable OC's, but the lesser OC has Turbo Mode. What would be the outcome?

Well I guess I will be the judge of "whats better" as I will have both :P

will be testing that as soon as TRUE mounting kit comes in stock.
3.76Ghz on CPU, turbo up to 4.5Ghz. that should beat a 4Ghz i7
Well, in theory if Turbo Mode is as good as it is, it should perform better then a 4Ghz OC without Turbo Mode for games using 2 cores.

might be a silly question but are Intel restricting the speed of these chips so that Turbo Boost has an effect? Why dont they just run at the increased clock speed all the time?

The Evga motherboards have skt 775 mounting holes as well as 1156 mounting holes.
Now the question is . . . will the Thermalright True 120 fit using the skt 775 bracket.
Also if this is the case, their should be no reason the Corsair H50 with 775 mount should fit . . . ?

because it would then make the x58 platform even less of a good buy
Lol whoever thinks i5 is better at anything is just wrong. Its alittle cheaper thats true but i7 > i5.

Not denying that, especially at the prices some of the x58 motherboards are going at. What i dont get is intels pricing, seems the only two processors you would actually buy are the 750 and the 920, the rest are just stupidly priced.

Yeah Im not too sure what intel are thinking, maybe they just want everyone to have 920 or 750. Im not complaining as my i7 does me proud and keeps my wallet fairly happy.

i5 plainly is better than 920 in single threaded applications, since clock for clock, 920 and 750 perform exactly the same in applications that use up to 4 cores. (all games) of course, any app that uses more than that, 920 would win hands down.
no one is saying 920 is not a bad buy. at least at the moment with inflated prices. but you cannot deny 750 is a fantastic gamer's processor, successor of E8400, just like 920 is successor of q6600.

i5 750 for gaming no question, i7 860 if you must have multi-threading for perhaps A/V encoding, ripping, editing etc, and you need the extra cash of course for the 860 chip.

how does it compare with p7p55d deluxe?

how does it compare with p7p55d deluxe?
It has + and - buttons on the motherboard so you can manually overclock the base clock when in windows ;)
It also has an OC GENIE button that you press that overclocks everything for you which drops the multi to 19 and ups the bclk to 200 in most cases giving 3.8ghz which is awesome and it finds the maximum stable operating frequency for the memory! It has massive 8mm heat pipes instead of the usualy 5-6mm...
honest you cannot go wrong with it! Its no P6T deluxe or classified killer but its definitely looking to be very promising!
Andy
EDIT: Over on bit-tech they have the p7p55d deluxe reviewed and it turns out the GD65 is on par in most things and beats it in others... thats a shocker I must say!

yeah, im surprised as well, since the Asus is more expensive.
How is a 750 better for gaming?
Baggpuss

I would day for gaming atm they are about equal, based on little to no games can take all the threads into account, the 750 I wouldn't call better performance wise but it is cheaper and if your not gonna do thread heavy tasks then maybe it's the better buy. Personally I would still get a 920 tho

On a budget basis i'm definitely tempted by an upgrade to an i5 :-)
