Hi
I have a novatech maverick laptop which has been working great until just recently. Main problem I have now is that the DVD drive keeps disappearing from my hardware config . At boot it hangs looking for secondary master for a few secs then does not detect it, I assume it means the dvd drive. Also when I insert a disc you can hear the drive going but get an error message saying no cd/dvd rom drive installed.
If I go into device manager I can scan for hardware changes and the dvd drive reappears.
All this started to happen after I installed THQ's Dawn of war, I have contacted them but they seem to think that I need firmware upgrade for my drive.
Can anyone please advise ?
I have a matshita uj-840d dvd/rw drive installed.
