Im thinking of setting up raid 0 using this controller card https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spe ... 105715&P=1 (https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ada-105715&P=1) and 2 of these hard drives https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spe ... MAX-PS2160 (https://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MAX-PS2160)
Now iv looked at the documentation
http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/support/sa ... AR-1210SA/ (http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/support/sata/sata/AAR-1210SA/)
for installing this controler card and it says i have to creat a bootable floppy disc from the CDrom provided problem is i dont have a floppy drive installed is there a way round this.
Can i creat a bootable CDrom instead?
are you planning on installing your OS on the RAID or just have it in addition to your current setup ?
btw, either answer is no, you don't *need* a floppy drive, but its a right pain without one if you reinstalling your OS, much easier to buy one infact...
Nox
(it involves slipstreaming your drivers into your XP install CD)

OK cheers
Ill probably do a clean install putting os and games on raid and use exsiting hdd for music pictures and stuff.
Ill borrow a floppy drive off a m8 just to get up and running if its a xxxx to set up with out.
Thanks for the help :)
yeah, you have a choice:
borrow a floopy drive off a mate and plug it in for 5 mins
or take your xp cd, copy it to your hd, slipstream in your drivers, reburn it, getting the boot part working, then redo it 3 times as it didn't quite work for some reason, and for a stupid reason :)

lol cheers M8
Also if im installing os onto the new raid set up when and how do i format my exsisting hdd witch obviously already has windows on.
Is it a case of leaving exsisting os installed then installing new os on new drives then putting windows disc in and formating old drive or do i have to do somthing first
if your new OS is going on the raid disks and you're plugging in your extra disk seperately - doesnt matter when.
