nvatech 27" hd lcd tv - dvi to hdmi dvd player problems

hi
have a 27" novatech hd lcd tv - only has DVI input
just bought a philips upscaling dvd player that has HDMI output
so bought a DVI to HDMI lead

however the tv will only display dvd's at 480p
no matter WHAT settings i set the dvd player too

any ideas / help appreciated

Hi mate. Does the dvd player state that it is still at 480p or is it just that you can't see a difference?

I can't say I have experience with the Philips model, I have a Samsung and some DVD's appear to show improvement whilst others look exactly the same. I did manage to remote hack mine to enable the HD res thru component though (which was disabled before). You could always look for a hack for your unit, to see if there is anything that can be unlocked, although it will void the warranty if you use it.
