I have a B750 chassis Novatech laptop.

The din pin plug that goes into the rear of the laptop is damaged (the supply itself is fine). Unfortunately it's not a standard 4 pin din plug. :(

I have been trying for nearly a year to locate a replacement din plug without any success. :x

The response from 'aftersales' was "MOVITA have been bust and out of business for some time now which is why we cannot get spare parts". Considering that in all I have purchased £3000+ of laptops from NovaTech, I think this is an abissmal response.

Does anyone know where I can get the din plug from? The power supply is an EDAC EA11203. I really don't want to have to buy the whole supply (£70+) when the plug should cost less than £5. :?:

I've tried eBay, LapTopSpares and numerous other sites.

I can provide pictures of the plug if needed.

Hi Buddy,
I have the same machine and need the same plug.
Let me know if you are able to source one, and I'll do the same for you.
Good Luck
Cheers

:D Yippee

Thanks to Jason Jackson, I have finally managed to obtain the 4 pin din plug for the power supply.

He pointed me to this part link:-
http://domino2.kycon.com/Pub_Eng_Draw/KPPX-4P.pdf

That in turn gave me the correct part number:- KPPX-4P

I was then able to obtain the part from:-
http://toby.co.uk/
Tel: 01295 271777

2 plugs inc vat & delivery £8.52

Many, many thanks to Jason.

However how did you get them for £8.52 inc!

Hello guys....
please see my other post on B750 thread;
cut to the chase what is the correct wiring of the four pins inside this plug to work with B750 ?
I'm pretty sure its three of them positive from psu and one back to earth (tho feel free to correct my failing memory if that recollection is balls....) but can't for the life of me remember which is which and can't find any wiring diagrams or info anywhere, search as I might.
You obviously know having fitted the said plugs referred to !
Any help gratefully received,
Cheers

Hi there and thank you for that, I have sourced a psu off Ebay and the relevant plugs from toby.co.uk, many thanks for the heads up and reference to that source of parts which went straight into the favourites folder asap.

The answers to my own questions, having hacked open and modified the original four pin plug accordingly, - hence the need for a nice new secure and electric shock free replacement plug to make all neat and tidy once again - are as follows:

The B750 requires an ETAC EA11203 PSU in 120 Watt 20 volt x 6 amp flavour.

NOT the exactly similar ETAC EA11203 150 Watt 19 volt x 7.8 amp PSU also available for other Movita and similar laptops. Beware and aware of the significant difference or be prepared for the less than sweet smell of ozone and melting pcb plastic as you fry your irreplaceable* B750 motherboard....

Secondly the B750 DOES require three of the pins in the plug to be wired to live and only one to be wired back to earth / neutral.

Which brings me to my original question, which three pins are live and which one not ?

If you look at the diagram in the third link cited above, ie. http://www.gpis.co.uk/EA11203_with_4_pin_connector.jpg
that shows the factory default wiring of the plug as you are likely to find it on any replacement sent out; ie. with Pins 1 and 2 - the ones nearest the flat side of the plug, the flat side which points down towards the ground when plugged into the motherboard, wired as +ve and pins 3 and 4 wired to negative.

The one which needs to be changed is pin 4. Pin 4 needs to be resoldered / rewired / cross connected so as to become the third positive.

At least on my two B750's it did and does ! No responsibility taken for anything that doesn't work on anyone else's B750 etc, but for anyone who has bought a replacement psu that refuses to boot up their old B750 and instead gives out a warning whine when plugged in to the motherboard then that's the reason why. Alternatively, if too disgusted to bother, then sell me your old B750.... I love 'em !

Finally and just for the avoidance of doubt I haven't researched the B760 at all and don't know which is the right wattage or the right plug wiring for it, so to any unlucky B760 owners, you're on yer own I'm afraid.

Thanks for the help all !

* irreplaceable that is unless you offer me unfeasibly large amounts money for my surplus second spare !

Weeeelll.... alright then, just a reasonably large sum will do.... :-)
