Novatech ATI Radeon 4890 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - Retail

http://images.novatech.co.uk/ev-nov-48902.jpg

The ATI Radeon 4890 graphics card is ATI's new single core flagship graphics card. Based on the 4870 architecture this card features a new GPU and much faster GDDR5 memory. Clocking in at 850MHz core speed and 3900MHz out of the box this card is anywhere between 10-15% faster than the previous 4870 graphics card. In our own testing we found these cards to perform extremely well but things start to get really exciting when you use the supplied ATI Overdrive utility within the catalyst drivers. Early rumous have seen cards reaching insane speeds as high as 1000MHz core and 4800MHz memory. In our own testing we found the cards remained stable upto 990MHz core and 4600MHz memory which results in nearly 30% performance improvement over the 4870 cards and performance was incredibly close and sometimes matching GTX 285 performance levels. Now Novatech does not guarantee that these cards will overclock the same for everyone but it seems safe to say cards should happily run at 950MHz core area and 4400MHz memory. Needless to say ATI have a winner on their hands with the 4890 graphics cards.

Features
- ATI Radeon HD 4890 GPU @ 850MHz
- 1024MB GDDR5 Memory @ 3900MHz
- ATI advanced cooling solution
- 24x custom filter anti-aliasing (CFAA) and high performance anisotropic filtering

usually pre-made kits are bad, but this H50 is really good compared to the best air coolers (eg, TRUE). definitely worth the money.

for overclockers, it's fantastic. it beats TRUE in stock speeds, but when overclocked, it removes heat faster than air cooler, so should allow to reach higher overclock than the best air coolers.

of course, usually, the people saying they are not good use their own custom water coolers, premade kits can never compete with a professionally installed custom water cooling.

keep an eye in overclocking thread :)

thanks, Gibbo, for the confirmation.

in comparison to other pre-made kit, they are the best performance/price at the moment, others perform a few degree better but cost more than a hundred pound.

the reason i ordered so quickly is because this kit doesn't cost that much, while getting the most important benifit of water cooling: fast removal of heat from CPU compared to air coolers.

Hi there

The Corsair coolers it would seem don't have AMD brackets or 1156 brackets with them. :(

Speaking to Corsair again they are saying they have AMD brackets with them but no Socket 1156 brackets, but from what we can tell the latest batch don't have either.

As such current stock and incoming stock dont support 1156 or AMD platforms.

We have spoke to Corsair and they are promising to get brackets sent out but are saying it could take up too two weeks for them too arrive.

As the kit was mis-advertised you are entitled to a refund or if you can wait we can get the brackets shipped out too you.

Hi there

We are working on this, spoke to Corsair last night they said 1156 bracket will be available and they are trying to get some to us but could not give a firm time. I shall be chasing them everyday and I am pushing to get them at no cost as it only seems right for all the confusion over this.

Spoke to Corsair today, they are willing to ship the brackets direct to customers.

If you email neil.arnold@corsairmemory.com

He has promised to ship the brackets directly to the customer but he has said brackets won't be instock for 1-2 weeks.

Otherwise you can wait a little longer and when we get some brackets in we can ship them out too you as long as you ordered from us. :)

You would of thought Corsair would of planned/designed these months ago, it's not like they woudnt have the specifications of the motherboards considering their one of the biggest suppliers of Ram.

They should of done this at the same time they did the AM3/X58/775 counterparts.

Maybe Corsair will learn from this delay next time.

that's fantastic. thanks. so once the fitting is available, i just Email that guy saying i bought from Novatech and he'd send one to me for free? great service :)

Hi there

Yes m8, he will probably confirm with me and he will send you one out, worse case is I give him a beating, steal several brackets of him and then ship them out myself. :)

Ah, my lovely Corsair. It's true, I used to love them. Not a single bad product.

Now everything they do turns to XXXX!
