I was thinking of suggesting this to the powers that be at novatech and sorting out a venue.
Good publicity for Novatech and we get to be sociable

Everyone is welcome to come! Well, nearly everyone and I think you know who you are! Something to do with "clucking bell". Trouble is, how does one gleem enjoyment from installing an OS? How could one seriously hold a party in this manner? My friends are what I refer to as "normies" and have very little if no knowledge/care to use a PC. I guess I am from a generation which missed out on the Internet revolution, it kind of happened around us. Not me though, I have always been interested in computers, since being a small child.

Well, the trouble is that the people I know who love using computers are all Linux fans and would simply poo poo the very idea.
Just reminded myself of a ratehr dodgy joke. What do you call a pile of old computer laptops in a cemetary?
Mac's By Graves
Or Mac fans. I have a few I can invite though.

Yeah, confirmed this morning too.
Which theme? I chose the family one... Well, it's only fair considering it's what my daughter is getting in lieu of her 5th birthday party!
Now I'm busy trying to convince Microsoft that my daughter's friends are 'key decision makers with purchasing authority', and also busy trying to explain to all the kids' parent why I need their email addresses and why I'll be taking pictures of their kids!
All this for a free Windows licence!
[Just kidding - I'm making it up. It is my daughter's birthday, and her party will be Windows 7 themed, but she's not inviting friends around - I'm not made of money, you know!]

I went for ease of set-up for a laugh. Hoping my Upgrade takes 20 hours like some have reported! Unlikely as I updated the rc and it onlt took a couple of hours.
I am looking forward to it now.

Having just watched the annoying child (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqUi1xlvDkI) on you tube, bumbling to display what is in the pack, I have to say the OS key is the only thing worth having. It all looks rather insulting and that flimsy "table centre piece" is pathetic. At least I have a few ideas what to use the napkins for. I certainly do not feel like whoring myself out to ms over this pile of ****.

Yeah that did sound rather ungrateful, I retract it. It's a nice box of stuff. Shame the UK does not get all of it. We dont get the streamers of balloons and some of the other stuff. I really don't mind at all apart from they have messed up the delivery address and I will be at work anyway.

Aw bless. A wally is not a word which would spring to mind, just rather keen I would say. Have you got it on Pre-order then? My copy of ultimate is sitting there staring at me and asking to be installed, but I shall not until I get my new mobo. TBH I am rather fond of W7 despite my earlier trepidations. Not sure if I should RAID my two SATA drives to install it afresh on or not. I would lose some data as I don't quite have room to backup nearly 2TB of data. Na, I think I will just pop it on the drive in the usual way.

Got my pack finally....
It's the one featured at PCPro (http://www.pcpro.co.uk/blogs/2009/10/09/the-microsoft-windows-7-party-pack-in-pictures/): A naff table centre-piece (two bits of card), a jigsaw, a poster, a pack of cards and 10 bags (similar to the green, keep-forever carrier bags that you get at some supermarkets).
Oh, and the all-important Signature edition of Windows 7 Ultimate!

Well pleased with this board. I got at least 10 fps more on GTA4 and between 10-20 fps more in Crysis. I guess my old board was holding me back a bit. I might pop up some pix later.
