Recently got an ALDI (Tevion 8000) HDMI upscaling DVD ..
The picture resolution is brilliant and so clear on 720p playing normal DVD's ..
HOWEVER watching a few films it is apparent that there is something wrong with the colours especially 'near black' and 'near white'.
There is nothing I can do to make it better, tweaking brightness may improve the blacks slightly but make the whites worse (and vice versa)
Searching the net .. I discover a BIG ISSUE of 8bit RGB and 8bit YCrCb, (with 2 sampling modes YCrCb 4:4:4, YCrCb 4:2:2) and this is made worse by STD Def DVD's only using 8bit .. but how is this converted and sent to the Q321?

There is no configuration on EITHER SIDE (the DVD player to select the correct colour space) OR on the TV side (to respond to the DVD player it's capability or select which to use). In fact not even knowing what signal is being used on the DVI it's really difficult to resolve who's issue this really is! WHY CAN'T THE Q321 SHOW SOME INFO ON WHAT HD SIGNAL IT IS USING!??!
Is this the Q321 not accepting 8bit YCrCb or RGB correctly?
Is this the Tevion not converting the DVD data to HDMI correctly?
Even though I can take the Tevion back to Aldi .. this still may leave me with a TV that does not provide me a future proof HDMI solution!!
(especially as DVI only supports 8bit .. and TRUE HDMI should support upto 12bit colour .. I bought the TV on the undersanding that HDCP over DVI is same as on a proper HDMI connector!)
PLEASE HELP or SUGGEST what solutions are available?!?!
OR reply with other experiences of proper HDMI on DVI .. especially on the Q321 ..
Thanks .. Jon
