Hi

I am the proud new owner of a shiny new X1 GTX but I am having problems with it. Its spec is:
Modified X1 with:
Upgraded CPU : Intel T9900 3.06GHz 6MB Cache 1066FSB Core 2 Duo Mobile Processor
Upgraded RAM : OCZ 4GB DDR3 PC3-10666 1333MHz 2 x 2GB SO DIMM
Upgraded Harddrive : 3x 250GB 7200 2.5" SATA Hard Disk Drives In RAID 5
Upgraded Graphics : 2x Nvidia GTX280 1GB DDR3 Graphics In SLi Mode
Included: Blu Ray Reader - DVD+/- Writer
Added Office Suite : Office Home & Student
Added Operating System : Windows Vista Home Premium

There are 2 main issues as follows:

1) This is the main issue for me. If I don't use the laptop for approx 5-10 minutes it locks up. The only way out of this is to Alt +F4 every window and do a restart. The only items I have connected to this laptop are a cooling tray (connects via 1 USB port) and a USB mouse. I've checked the power saving plans and basically removed any option that allows the laptop to "sleep" to no avail - I can't seem to stop this happening. (Not sure if it's related but even when the laptop isn't in use the hdd light goes mental)...?

2) I opted for the Blu Ray Reader/Writer which is all very well but the laptop came with no software that allows Blu Ray discs to be viewed!!! Am I missing something here? It would have been useful if there been an option (or even a note to explain) that extra software is required! Is this something I have to purchase separately (and why wasn't I told this when I placed the order???)

Any advice would be really appreciated please

Hi Purplepixii

Could you PM me your order number? I'll need to see your order spec to see what can be done about the bluray software side of things.

Also, I might suggest a reinstall of the drivers from the driver disc to ensure that you are not getting a ACPI isue with one of them which may be is causing the issue.

Also, try choosing a different screen saver (or disabling it completely) if you have started using a third party one.

Beyond that, again, I'll need to see the order.

Hi Purplepixii

I think the reason why you didn't receive any bluray software was because it was a custom build which seems to have missed it off - I've added some on (no cost to you) and it should be with you through the post on Monday/Tuesday (let me know if it does not turn up).

Let me know how my suggestion re the pseudo lockups go.
